Happy Saint George’s Day

Saint George’s Day, a festivity celebrated by several nations, countries and cities, for this reason today, from Swap Family we want to refresh its legend.

The legend of Saint George tells that in a far country there was a village with many animals; chickens, pigs, sheep, horses, cows … It was ruled by a king and his daughter. All the villagers loved them very much because they cared for them.

One day a fierce dragon that ate one animal a dayappeared. The king was very concerned and called all the knights of the kingdom to come and kill the dragon. But none of them succeeded. The day came when the dragon had already eaten all the animals and threatened to eat all the inhabitants.

The king organized a draw to determine who would be the person that the dragon would eat each day and the chance made the first person to be the princess.

The king was very sad, he loved his daughter very much and he could not imagine living without her. 

When the princess was on her way to meet the dragon, a brave knight named George arrived. Just as the dragon was approaching the princess, the knight stepped in and thrust his sword into the dragon’s heart. Suddenly, it started to bleed and a red rose grow from the blood. A rose that symbolize courage and passion.
